Golden Age of Creativity

In the sphere of literature and the arts, it was the "golden age of creativity" - the era of Renaissance and Efflorescence. Sankaradeva freely transcreated the Puranas and the epics instead of just resorting to literal translations, with a view to localising the episodes from these great works. Madhavadeva, equally gifted like Sankaradeva, helped to maintain the tempo and further enriched the literature of devotion. The image of the Guru still looms large in the imagination of the Assamese writers.
